Martin Davison Public Relations helped long-time client Independent Health and Shared Mobility, Inc. launch an innovative new bikeshare program in the City of Buffalo in 2016. The program rolled out with a fleet of 200 GPS equipped “smart” bikes located at 35 stations. Extensive research was used to help engage the community in the planning process. A launch event and inaugural “group ride” was held at Buffalo’s historic Delaware Park to help get the program rolling.
First-year results included 1,433 memberships, 1,700 individual riders, 11,968 trips taken, approximately 17,614 miles traveled (roughly the distance from Buffalo to New Zealand and back again) and 766,080 calories burned, equivalent to 7,500 of Buffalo’s famous chicken wings, minus the blue cheese.
